Find a project suited to your learning objectives
We have a select number of projects that we work with in Latin America. These include conservation work, animal rehabilitation, construction and working with communities. All of these projects can be combined with an adventure expedition and/or a Spanish or Portuguese language course.
Peru Community and Construction Project
The project focuses on improving the lives of children and families within the communities of one of the largest shanty-towns in Latin America - Villa Maria. The project offers your pupils the opportunity to make a real difference to those who need it most, whilst gaining an insight into the developing world and issues of rural - urban migration.
Bolivia Animal Sanctuary Project
The Bolivia Animal Sanctuary Project focuses on rehabilitating rescued animals and returning them to their natural environment. The project gives your pupils the chance to gain real hands-on experience with endangered species and make much needed improvements to the infrastructure of the park.
Brazil Amazon Project
Help to protect the threatened Brazilian Amazon and offer livelihood opportunities for the communities that live there. An utterly unique project taking you and your pupils into the depths of the jungle to experience a working example of practical conservation.
Chile Conservation Project
A Darwin Initiative project with a science-based approach working to conserve the Monkey Puzzle tree in the beautiful Chilean Lake District. You and your pupils would be involved in collecting and collating useful scientific data.
Rio Favela Project
Support the Mangueira Social Project working alongside the disadvantaged children of Rio’s Mangueira favela.
You may wish to choose a project based around a certain subject at school, or in a particular country or continent with which your school has links. For example, for pupils studying geography, a visit to the Amazon will give them a fantastic and truly memorable insight into the diversity of the rainforest. If you would like a project set-up specifically for your school, we can do so through the strong overseas partnerships we have built over the last decade.
Add-on Expeditions
We have a number of different itineraries in place that take-in the highlights of the country and surrounding countries, as well as places off the beaten track. Our UK staff have spent years overseas so are also able to put together new itineraries based on the time you and your pupils have, as well as the level and range of activities you would like to undertake. A sample itinerary that could be added on to any of our projects could include:
Add-on a language course
Why not give your students the opportunity to learn or improve Spanish or Portuguese. Not only will this improve their skill base, but it will also enhance their time overseas, allowing them to converse with the local community. We can arrange one-to-one or group tuition within Latin America for those that would like to learn or add to their exisiting skills.
